New Bard’s Road Map

I first taught this class at Pennsic in 2016. It was inspired by a conversation I had with a new bard where I started to explain what I had learned about the formal and informal institutional frameworks for bards in the SCA. She said, “See? This is the class I needed when I first started doing this!” I realized she was right, and this had been the same information I had been seeking. So I compiled my best understanding of the subject matter and offered it up as lessons learned. The opinions are mine, and worth every penny I charge for the (free) class.

Class description: A how-to primer for new or aspiring bards. Developing a repertoire, finding performance opportunities, seeking mentors and patrons, gaining visibility, becoming part of the bardic community.
